Alpha-Core, Inc.

The New Millennium Technology

Recent research into alternate winding materials has revealed a      growing demand for flat or rectangular magnet wire in sizes equivalent to AWG 14 and smaller. Flat magnet wire is useful in many products from voice coils in loudspeakers to field- and armature coils in rotary and linear motors, but it also offers advantages in transformers, enabling more compact coils and improved heat dissipation over designs based on round wire.

In order to meet this demand, Alpha-Core is offering FLAT MAGNET WIRE from stock in thickness to width ratios ranging from 1:2 through 1:4. The wire is produced from round, pre-insulated wire which is flattened, utilizing special equipment developed in house. Patents are pending for the process which involves a single step deformation between mirror polished work surfaces. It is special for the procedure that the wire is being flattened with only negligible stretching, meaning that the cross sectional area is the same before and after the process. The result is that the insulation is stressed only in one direction, and that the resistance and wire gauge remain largely unchanged.

The product is supplied on 10, 20, 80, 250 spools

Alpha-Core’s flat wire is introduced in two types of insulation:
