C-Core Transformers and Inductors require secure banding for consistent magnetic performance and noise control.
Alpha Core is a distributor of the Ultra-Lok® system and carries bands and ties as well as tooling for core banding purposes.
The bands are ¼” wide x 0.015” non-magnetic stainless steel and stocked in lengths ranging from 8” to 35” with buckles in place. The band is threaded around the core and through the bobbins before being fed into the tensioning and locking tool. The tool serves to pull the loop tight with controllable tension and then locks it securely by indenting the band at the buckle and cutting off the excess in one simultaneous action.
The splice is usually placed on a corner of the core and does not interfere with bobbins or mounting components. 2 bands are sometimes used for wide cores.
